Wild Enoki Grow Block

Grow blocks are marked "Sold Out" when they are out of season or when we currently have none to spare. Our priority is producing fresh mushrooms so we only sell our excess blocks. Please contact us if you'd like to know when a particular species is available.
NOTE: Enoki is a more advanced species to grow and for beginners, we recommend Oyster mushrooms instead. Our Wild Enoki strain will not fruit well in temperatures exceeding 25°C for extended periods of time and you will need to take extra care with its environment. For Enoki, it can help to initially maintain very high humidity while the pins (baby mushrooms) are forming. Then, once they begin to enlarge, they can be cared for in much the same way as an Oyster mushroom. Once these Wild Enoki mushrooms get growing, they are actually quite resistant to drying out and have lower humidity requirements than Lion's Mane.
We can post our extra large grow blocks Australia-wide. We cover some of the postage costs ourselves to make it an affordable option. For regular parcel post within Western Australia, there is a $15 fee per block. For postage Australia-wide outside of W.A. there is a $25 fee per block.
Enoki mushrooms love the cold, so much that they can even fruit inside a fridge at temperatures around 3-4°C. Most commercial Enoki strains require a "cold shock" in the fridge to initiate fruiting when attempting to grow them at warmer temperatures but our unique wild strain is more adapted to warm weather.
So long as the temperature does not exceed 25°C for extended periods of time and humidity is maintained, your Wild Enoki block can produce multiple flushes in home environments with relative ease. They are vulnerable to bacterial issues if they are kept too wet, however, which can cause some mushrooms to become blackened and slimy - remove these mushrooms and keep the ones that still look good.
Wild Enoki is also known as "Velvet Foot" because the base of the stems become a bit furry and turn brown in maturity. This trait has been bred out of some commercial Enoki strains for the sake of aesthetics but it is perfectly natural and nothing to worry about.
We use these blocks to grow all the mushrooms on our farm and they are much larger than most other grow kits, weighing around 5kg for huge commercial yields. We blend our all-natural substrate using W.A. Eucalyptus, barley and rain water for giant harvests of nutrient-dense mushrooms. They simply require light misting with a spray bottle of water 2-3 times per day. They like a bit of ambient light and humidity so usually the best spot in the home is a bathroom which is used for showers.
You can optionally purchase a $7 fine mist spray bottle and a $3 humidity bag with your block but these are not essential. If you use a humidity bag, simply place it upright with the top open to allow airflow. To keep the top of the bag open, you can roll it down a couple of times to make the opening more rigid. Enoki does not require heaps of oxygen like Oyster mushrooms and will just grow long and stringy otherwise but it is still important to allow airflow. Place your block inside with the X facing upwards. Direct most of your misting at the walls of the enclosure to avoid too much moisture sitting on the caps which can cause problems for Enoki.
For even better results, you can make what's known as a Shotgun Fruiting Chamber (SGFC) using a plastic tub and perlite - search "How to make a Shotgun Fruiting Chamber".
