Reishi - Fresh 500g
When fresh mushrooms are marked "Sold Out", there are none available for our next Wednesday delivery run. You can still contact us to order them for a different date.
We currently deliver for free between Yarloop, Bunbury and Busselton on Wednesday afternoons. We can also deliver to Dunsborough, Yallingup and Margaret River areas, typically for a $7 fee. Pickup can be arranged from our farm gate or from our markets in Boyanup and Serpentine-Jarrahdale. We cannot post fresh mushrooms.
We grow our mushrooms using W.A. Eucalyptus sawdust supplemented with local grains and hydrated with rain water. We never use pesticide sprays and none of our substrates contain soy or lupin hulls.
❖ Fresh Reishi can only be stored for around 2 weeks in the fridge.
❖ To keep it long term, it can either be frozen or dehydrated at 50°C.
❖ For drying, it should be thinly sliced (about 0.5cm) and dried for around 4-6 hours until it cracks easily when bent. Allow it to cool completely before storing it in an airtight container, away from sunlight.
❖ It is not recommended to consume whole Reishi mushrooms as a powder because this can potentially be harmful, especially over a long period of time.
❖ Reishi tea has been the traditional method of consumption for thousands of years.
❖ Reishi contains chemicals which can have powerful effects on the human body and it is always recommended to consult your healthcare provider about whether Reishi tea is right for you.
❖ On request, we can provide you with an instruction sheet explaining the best ways to make Reishi tea at home, also referred to as a "herbal decoction". You can also add any other mushrooms or herbs to this decoction.
Reishi tea can be kept refrigerated for 1 week. We like to make large batches of strong Reishi tea and then freeze it into ice cubes to add into morning coffees.
Reishi tea should be bitter and this is how you know that you have made a potent brew. Honey and fresh citrus for serving help to improve the flavour or you can simply mix your tea (aka. water extract) into other beverages. Water is known as the “universal solvent” because it can dissolve more substances than any other liquid.
